La Rwandan trademark law dated October 26, 2009 came into force a long time ago, in the month of December of the same year.
However, it is now that the Trademark Office has clarified the date on which trademarks deposited before the entry into force of the Law must be renewed to adapt to new legislative provisions.
There has been confusion around that date, since initially, the Trademark Office set October 26, 2019 as the final renewal date for the trademarks that were pending registration upon the entry into force of the new Law. Well, , The Trademark Office of the African country has confirmed that the date on which all affected trademarks must be renewed is December 14, 2019.
Although Rwanda is not a country frequently included in the internationalization projects of Spanish companies and owners, We are working with our collaborators in the country so that those cases that must be regularized are resolved before the date set by the Rwandan Trademark Office.
