Jesús holds a Law degree from the University of Santiago de Compostela. In 1980, he passed the competitive examination for the Legal Corps of the Industrial Property Registry—now the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM)—where he actively participated in the legislative process that adapted Spanish industrial property regulations to European standards. As a WIPO expert, he also collaborated on projects to modernize industrial property offices in various Latin American countries.
In 1995, he joined ELZABURU, becoming a partner in 1996, and worked there until 2019. His main focus was on Brands, managing strategic portfolios for national and international companies such as Almirall, Mirto, Mapfre, Banco Santander, Campofrío, Artiach, 3M, Audi, and Nabisco, as well as institutions like the Royal Household. Within the firm, he also served as Head of the International Business Area, maintaining close relationships with colleagues worldwide and actively participating in international conferences.
In parallel, he pursued extensive academic and training work. Between 1981 and 2017, he was Professor of Advertising Law at the Faculty of Information Sciences of the Complutense University of Madrid. At ELZABURU, he chaired the Training Committee and was a member of the Editorial Committee, promoting the continuing education of professionals and coordinating the firm's participation in international legal publications. He was also an active member of professional associations such as AIPPI, ASIPI, INTA, and ECTA.
He is currently a member of the Academic Committee of the Ibero-American Journal of Intellectual Property, is registered with the Madrid Bar Association as a non-practicing lawyer, and serves as secretary of Galician Jurists in Madrid (IURISGAMA).
