Madrid, June 16, 2026. ELZABURU has once again been recognized by the Financial Times as one of Europe’s leading patent law firms. The firm has once again been included in the “Europe’s Leading Patent Law Firms 2026” ranking, compiled in collaboration with Statista, which features only 12 Spanish firms.
In this new edition, ELZABURU has also expanded its sectoral presence with a new distinction in the Biotechnology, Food & Healthcare category. With this addition, the firm has been recommended in five of the six technology areas analyzed by the ranking, compared to the four in which it was recognized in 2025.
Specifically, ELZABURU has been listed in the following areas:
- Mechanical Engineering: Silver
- Chemistry & Pharmacy: Bronze
- Electrical Engineering & Physics: Bronze
- IT & Software: Bronze
- Biotechnology, Food & Healthcare: Bronze
The addition of this new category reflects the technical expertise of ELZABURU’s Patent team and its ability to support innovation in increasingly interdisciplinary sectors.
“This recognition is particularly meaningful because it is based on recommendations from clients and industry professionals. It reflects the trust placed in our team and confirms the work we have been doing in the area of patents, where we combine technical expertise, legal experience, and a clear international focus to support our clients in protecting their innovations. The addition of the Biotechnology, Food & Healthcare practice encourages us to continue strengthening our capabilities in sectors where science, technology, and legal strategy are becoming increasingly interconnected,” says Ruth Sánchez, partner and head of the patent practice at Elzaburu.
The “Europe’s Leading Patent Law Firms” ranking is based on recommendations from clients and industry professionals, including patent attorneys, in-house legal specialists, and other experts in the field of intellectual property. The recognized firms are ranked by technical area and tier based on the frequency of the recommendations they receive.
We at ELZABURU would like to thank those who have recommended us for their trust and congratulate the entire Patent team—led by Ruth Sánchez, Francisco Javier Sáez, and Pedro Saturio Carrasco—on this new recognition.
ELZABURU’s inclusion in the Financial Times ranking underscores the work of a patent practice dedicated to providing outstanding technical and strategic advice, supporting companies, research centers, and institutions in protecting, managing, and defending their innovations, both in Spain and internationally.
