Madrid, October 16, 2026. – ELZABURU participated in a meeting organized by the Madrid Bar Association (ICAM), which brought together law firms and companies that have been awarded the Seal of Good Practices in Equality, as well as professionals and organizations that have received the Equality and Leadership Awards.
Isabel Gómez Patón, Head of Human Resources, and Guiomar González, Head of Marketing and Communications, attended on behalf of ELZABURU as one of the law firms that have already received this recognition, which was awarded to the firm in March 2025.
The meeting, chaired by Isabel Winkels, associate dean of ICAM, provided an opportunity to share experiences and reflect on the challenges facing the legal sector as it works toward achieving real and effective equality.
The Challenges of Equality: From Regulatory Compliance to Women's Leadership
During the meeting, participants discussed some of the challenges that remain on the table in the legal sector: how to turn commitments into concrete actions, how to engage those in management roles, and how to continue increasing the presence of women in decision-making positions.
At ELZABURU, 74% of the workforce is made up of women, and 50% of the Executive Committee—the body responsible for strategic decision-making—is comprised of women who lead various departments within the firm.
“We have made significant progress in increasing the presence of women in decision-making bodies, and we continue working to ensure that this progress extends to the membership as well, where women currently account for 25 percent. Work-life balance is a key factor here. Measures such as greater flexibility in remote work, compensatory time off, and more flexible scheduling help ensure that taking on more professional responsibility doesn’t have to mean added difficulties in one’s personal life,” explains Isabel Gómez Patón, Head of Human Resources at ELZABURU.
A vision of equality that goes beyond gender
At ELZABURU, equality is also approached from a broader perspective. It is not limited to equality between women and men, but also has to do with how people are treated within the organization and with ensuring that everyone can perform their work under the same conditions.
“For us, equality is very much about day-to-day life and ensuring that everyone can feel respected and valued within the firm, regardless of their identity, sexual orientation, or position,” says Guiomar González, Head of Marketing and Communications at ELZABURU.
