ELZABURU has strengthened its patent practice by appointing a new leadership team: Ruth Sánchez is the new director of the practice, a position in which she will be supported by two deputy directors: Francisco Javier Sáez and Pedro Saturio. All three are European Patent Attorneys and authorized representatives before the Unified Patent Court.

The firm is Spain's leader in patents and regulatory approvals and advises companies in various sectors. To this end, it has a multidisciplinary team of 42 people, including engineers, chemists, biotechnologists, and biologists with experience and expertise in all areas of business.

ELZABURU's clients include some of Spain's leading companies in the biotechnology, chemical, pharmaceutical, ICT, artificial intelligence, engineering, aerospace, construction and infrastructure, defense, automotive, energy, and environmental sectors, among others.

Ruth Sánchez, Associate Partner at ELZABURU, is an industrial engineer specializing in mechanical engineering, holds an MBA from the European Business School, a diploma in patent litigation from the University of Strasbourg, is a European Patent Attorney, and is an Authorized Representative before the Unified Patent Court. She has been working in the field of intellectual property since 2005 and has served as a technical specialist at a patent agency, as well as head of the patent department at industrial companies. She has experience in industrial designs, patents, and utility models in the aeronautics and aerospace, automotive, electronics, renewable energy, construction and real estate, and civil engineering sectors.

Francisco Javier Sáez is a Partner at ELZABURU and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the Autonomous University of Madrid. He is an Industrial Property Agent, a European Patent Attorney, a European Trademark Attorney, and an Authorized Representative before the EUIPO. He holds a Diploma in Patent Litigation from the University of Strasbourg and is an Authorized Representative before the Unified Patent Court. Before entering the field of intellectual property, he worked for 10 years as a researcher and R&D project manager at multinational companies in the chemical sector. He specializes in drafting, filing, and defending Spanish and foreign patents. He has experience in industrial designs, R&D, patents, utility models, and technology transfer in the energy and environment, pharmaceutical, and agrochemical sectors.

Pedro Saturio, Associate Partner at ELZABURU, holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from ICAI and a Master’s degree in Integrated Logistics. He is an Industrial Property Agent, a European Patent Attorney, a European Trademark Attorney, and an Authorized Representative before the EUIPO. He holds a Diploma in Patent Litigation from the University of Strasbourg and is an Authorized Representative before the Unified Patent Court. He has worked in engineering departments at companies in the pharmaceutical and automotive sectors. He has experience with industrial designs, patents, and utility models in the aeronautics and aerospace, automotive, construction, energy, environmental, real estate, and civil engineering sectors.
